NEXT STOP: UTOPIA!

Between September and November 2019, we researched ideas for the design and activation of the festival headquarters as part of the “Uprising of Utopias” festival, initiated by  ASA-FF eV, in the city of Chemnitz. In the heart of the city, behind the world-famous Karl-Marx monument, we opened up an opportunity for passersby and invited guests, newcomers and long-established residents, cooperation partners of the festival, passers-by, curious people - the diverse population of Chemnitz - to exchange ideas about future visions , the past, desires, everyday practices and rituals. Following on from this, nine things for the curious and impatient were created, a textile workshop entitled: Chemnitz is at home and a travel agency. It is the 119th travel agency in the city, but there are attractive free trips here and you don't even have to leave Chemnitz to travel to other countries:

Between exhibitions, plays, discussions and workshops, the Festival Headquarters embarks on its very own utopian journey. Here, everyday rules, rituals and customs of a diverse Chemnitz society are brought together in a common negotiation space and future visions are tested. How does urban coexistence feel, how could it smell, taste, hear? The open-space Chemnitz is transformed into a multifunctional cultural space of encounter, between utopia and dystopia, between realities and dream worlds, between space and time; temporary, everyday, different, the space invites you to dock and rub shoulders together.
